Voices from the field: Sanne Broeder
As part of the Belgian XR Report 2025, we’re giving the floor to voices from the field. Professionals from across XR Valley’s key sectors share their views on the current state and future potential of XR in Belgium. From education to industry, culture to healthcare — where do we stand today, and where could we be headed next?
This edition: Sanne Broeder (In4Care) from the perspective of Healthcare
“Since March 2023, In4Care vzw has been the Belgian partner in the Scale-Up4Rehab project, funded by Interreg North-West Europe (NWE). As a healthcare innovation network with an active living lab in Flanders, we support the development of a Virtual Rehabilitation Clinic by helping select digital interventions, organizing a pre-pilot in Belgium, engaging local stakeholders, and raising awareness about XR in healthcare. We also contribute to training design and run workshops to ensure XR tools meet real user needs.”
“The main challenge is implementation. XR solutions need a clear path to reimbursement and strong involvement from healthcare professionals. Without both, adoption in daily practice remains slow. Getting clinicians on board early and clearly demonstrating the added value is essential.”
“We hope this ecosystem mapping will provide a clearer picture of Belgium’s XR landscape: who is active, what is already possible, and where the gaps are. It can help connect developers, care providers, and decision-makers, and show how XR can make a real impact in healthcare.”
